The garden is a 200-year-old nursery here in Knoxville. The grounds are gorgeous with lots of beautiful stone walls and structures. It's so gorgeous that we're planning our wedding here in a few short months! This was a really leisurely stroll. We started up on the larger terraces and slowly worked our way around the gardens, through the courtyards and down pebbled paths. We stopped to look in some of the old stone buildings and take photos. There was even a resident fat cat greeting us at a greenhouse. He hammed it up for our photos and meowed at us. We continued on across the street and down a hill to where a bamboo stand had been planted. We weaved our way through the stand and up to a hill with a beautiful view of Mt. Leconte. Down the hill a way, we saw a mother fox and her cub. They ran around through their fox holes and popped up every once in a while for more photo opportunities. We decided to continue on though, as it would be getting dark pretty soon. We went on to a newer section of the nursery with some old office buildings and a garage. Over here, there is a 150-year-old Japanese maple tree. I've never seen one anywhere near that big before! We explored the old greenhouses, that actually had glass panels still intact, before heading out for the night.
It was nice to see some friends for my birthday. After the terrible way April had treated me the past few weeks, it was nice to know I still had people who supported me and were happy to see me :)
This is a photo of one of the old glass greenhouses in the newer section of the arboretum. Some of them still had panels, but this one didn't. I still love the photo though!
